Continuous Improvement

Every six weeks our tutors assess students to track improvement. This allows tutors to focus on areas of difficulty and better meet students’ needs.

Getting Started

  1. Schedule an Assessment

Meet with Liza to find out your student’s current grade level and get placed into the program.

2. Purchase materials

Purchase a student kit that fits your student’s needs. Kits include a workbook, cards, small books, and other materials for your student’s level.

3. Choose meeting times and location

Meetings are usually held on Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays. We offer in-person meetings in Santaquin, UT, and West Mountain (Payson), UT, as well as online.

4. Test every six weeks

Track progress, make goals with your tutor, and see success! Students are expected to move up at least one grade level every six weeks.

5. Reach your goals!

We do our best to help your student reach their goals and/or graduate from the program to become lifelong readers!

Testimonials

  • My son has dyslexia and we have tried several different reading programs over the years. When Liza evaluated my son, she acknowledged the great skills he had and talked about the holes in his reading skills. I was looking for a program that could fill in the holes and help him succeed. Liza tailored the program to fill in his holes while also moving him forward. I appreciated that because other programs wouldn’t advance him because his words per minute weren’t fast enough. Emily is a great tutor! She engages him, even on days he doesn’t want to engage. She is able to pull in reading materials that interest him and is always positive and encouraging. I would highly recommend blooming reading to anyone who’s child is struggling with reading.

  • My 3rd grader always looked forward to going to her tutoring class and in just a summer we were able to raise her reading level from a 2nd grader to an early 4th grader! We love that our kid can go into 3rd grade with great reading confidence!

  • My son has truly enjoyed his time with Liza. She is professional and caring. She makes learning fun in particular for the students that may struggle. She's a top-notch choice for anyone looking for someone to improve their child's reading ability.

  • My daughter struggled with reading from day one! It never came super naturally. We have read every night together since she was a toddler. When she was put into the reading program at school in 3rd grade, she was devastated. As much you want to avoid the stereotypes, she still felt like a “dumb” student. I decided to take more action and hired an outside reading tutor. I am so glad I found joyfully read! It is an investment, but an investment your child will reap so many benefits from. My daughter drastically improved her reading skills (from 3rd to 6th grade level in 2 months) which has drastically improved every academic aspect in her life! She is confident, reading instructions better, which is making everything at school easier. Highly recommend!

  • I just want to say how much we liked Liza! She was so encouraging and patient but with the perfect balance of “take no guff”. In my 14 years of parenting it’s something I really value in a tutor/teacher/coach because it can be very hard to find and execute that balance. She was wonderful!

  • I have really enjoyed working with Liza for tutoring. My daughter has had a really nice time and we're looking forward to working with her until we finish the program:) It's worth the cost of the program!

FAQs

  • Yes! After your session, your tutor will let you know your weekly homework and which materials to work on with your child. Progress is still possible without at-home help, but for the fastest results, we ask families to help their students apply the principles they learn in class through simple activities. Any proficient reader can help them with their homework, including siblings or friends! Homework takes about twenty minutes a day.

  • Private tutoring sessions are held twice a week on Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs for 45 minutes each session.

  • Students are assessed every six weeks to track progression. Students are expected to move up at least one reading grade level in this time frame, and we recognize that we need to change something if this expectation is not met.

  • Sessions are held in person in Santaquin or online. JoyFully Read! has more locations if you would prefer to be taught in person but do not live near Utah County.

  • We are confident that you will love Blooming Reading as much as we do. Because we are so confident you will want to stay with us, we do NOT lock you into long-term contracts and ask for only two weeks’ notice if you decide that you and your student would like to end sessions with us.
